Diet restrictions around the holidays
How is everyone feeling with Easter coming up? I know probably not everyone will be celebrating but food is always the main thing around any holiday.
Pre-dialysis and during dialysis I was very restricted in terms what I could have. Especially sodium- only 1,500mg a day. After my transplant I have mostly gone back to eating everything, but I still limit my salt just not to that extent. During the holidays I allow myself to have the things that I would normally avoid- like HAM, salty snacks and different dishes prepared by others where the salt portions are likely much higher than what I prepare my meals with.
How do you guys manage your diet restrictions, if you have any?

I don't have any real diet restrictions. I put myself on a plant-based diet 15 years ago. I did that to help with my weight, taking prednisone. I wasn't originally on prednisone, but it helps keep my lupus quiet.
With all the medications we take that are hard on the body, I try to eat as clean as possible. I limit salt and sweets. During holidays or vacations, though, I will ease a little. But I do feel a difference with my body not being as happy. That helps me manage what I eat. Remember how I don't feel as good eating certain foods.
Haha, I do the same! I agree, I feel so much better when I eat well. For me meaning that I cook my own food and hit all my food groups.
That is very impressive and clearly everything you've done the right thing becuase it help keep you healthy for so long. Was it a hard adjustment when you first switched?
