Parathyroid surgery
Good evening my tribe, As I write this I am sitting in my hospital bed Two days ago I had to get my pararthyroid glands removed. My PTH levels were sky high and now are down to a more normal range. I was upwards to 1900 now i am down to 200. I think the range is 150-300. so needless to say i am good. buuuuut my calcium is super low, that is expected to happen and so now i have been on a calcium trip for the last 2 days until i can get it back up within normal range. 8.6-10.0 lets see how long that will take. i imagine through the early part of the week but we shall see. Has anyone had to do this? what was your experience like?

How are you feeling alex . I. Hope you feel better soon
I’ll take you out for Indian/ British vindaloo and tiki masala at a place that I know of. Take your time and heal up.
I hope you feel better soon. My doctor has had me on Sensipar to keep my PTH down. I will probably have to have the surgery in the future. Thanks for your story.
I wish I could share more than this - but thinking of you and best and warmest wishes for feeling better soon!!!!
Transplant Patient
Hi! It can take weeks but most patients normalize within 4 weeks… hoping it will be within levels that are deemed safe to go home in a day or two! Stay positive and strong
Hey Alex! Glad to hear everything went well and you are on the mend! Thank you for sharing your experience with us! I had a total thyroidectomy but did not have the parathyroid glands removed. It did take a long time for my numbers to get settled. In the mean time, I hope you can enjoy some popsicles and slushies!
