Nerve damage after surgery

When I woke up from my liver transplant surgery I could not use my right arm. It was completely without feeling. It is almost a year and a half later, and I found out it is a positioning injury that might have happened during surgery. I have had PT and I have gained the use of my arm and hand, but I have permanent damage. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Not in the same way, but I did experience massive nerve damage in through my core that has caused other problems. My surgery process was really traumatic, and I had multiple damage control surgeries within a really short time frame, so they think that's probably why. Also working with PT, which helps to a degree.
I feel like, especially with nerves, there's still so much that's unknown.
I agree. We need to learn! Lol. I think the numbness around my scar will be there forever. Thank you for sharing. I had a really terrible time after my surgery as well. I went into a coma for 9 days after a second surgery to repair the one done hours earlier. We all have our stories. I am so glad to learn from everybody.
I believe I also have some nerve damage in my abdominal area. I had a secondary surgery one day after my transplant for internal bleeding.
I'm 2 1/2 years transplanted, and I started having a lot of tension in my stomach muscles, very tight and sometimes cramps.
Sometimes it's hard to breathe because the muscles are so tight that it's hard to expand my lungs.
I think it's nerve damage issues, but I have to wait until my next doctor's visit.
