Kidney
My creatinine rose from 1.1 to 1.6
Hi Everyone,
Hope you're all doing well!
I’m Aamir, a kidney transplant recipient of 10 years. I had earlier posted about starting swimming, and I’m happy to share that things are going well — I’m now fairly comfortable with the basics.
However, I have a concern. When I began swimming on 17th June, my creatinine was 1.39, and as of 9th July, it has risen to 1.6. I’m unsure what could have caused this — could it be due to the swimming dives or maybe the pool water (YMCA assures it's filtered, chlorinated, and safe)?
Would really appreciate any thoughts, similar experiences, or advice from fellow members or caregivers.
Thank you,
Aamir

I'd definitely check with your doctors! They'll have a better idea what's in range for you or what other things it might be.
Do you drink enough water (4x16 mL of bottle water)? When I swim, I pee a lot. I make sure to bring water with me. Theoretically, swimming is good for the body and mind. I swim 3-4 times a week over the last 24 yrs of my kidney transplant. To me, swimming is the best exercise.
Do you have other symptoms like diarrhea, no appetite, nausea, fatigue? If you do, make sure call your nephrologist. I had BK virus at my 13 yrs of transplant with the similar symptoms.
Best wishes.
Hey Hi Thx , I don't drink much of water after swimming class may be that's the issues.i have diarrhoea for last 5 days but it happens 2 3 times after eating something and no stomach pain as such. No proper stools passed yet.
I'm sorry to hear about your GI issues! That certainly makes it difficult to stay hydrated and can contribute to the increasing creatinine. As Alisha mentioned above, the best thing to do it contact your doctors. They can refer you to the specialist and its important for them to note anything that is going on with you at the time, especially when you have a bump in creatinine.
My nephrologist recommended me to drink 4x16 ounces of water everyday.
