Covid Shots?

Just curious friends, with the federal guidelines changing and the national debate about vaccine safety, who is getting the COVID Vaccine this year? This is strictly a health question not a vaccine debate prompt. I am really curious from a transplant perspective, how we navigate these waters.

I have had Covid 4 times and was very ill. And I have had 6 Covid vaccines, 4 of them were mandatory to stay on the transplant list Planning to get my COVID vaccine end of September and the flu a few weeks later. Even before I got sick pre-transplant, I had bad reactions to vaccines. Any vaccine I get, I am “sick” for 1-2 days after. Yet I choose to get them in case the alternative is worse. What will you be choosing?

There has been too many cases of heart problems, deaths, etc. linked to the Covid shots. Plus, too many people that have had even the most current Covid shot still got covid.

I had the 1st shot back when Covid started, and then a booster. I have been hospitalized once with Covid, but I'll not take another shot.

I got the first few Covid shots (I’m in Canada so our guidelines are different here) and then was advised to chill for a bit because of other health related things so I haven’t had any in the last little while. We do take precautions in other ways (I live a really low risk lifestyle, don’t go out much and when we do we’re masking) and I’ve never had covid.

I took the covid vaccine yesterday. A few hours later I felt very fatigued, Overnight I started feeling chills, headache and nausea. I am feeling better now. I did have covid in 2022 but I was in ICU for a different reason so I only remember having a fever. My nephrologist told me she has some patients with it now, so she wanted me to take it especially since I am traveling next week. I will take the flu shot in two weeks and again in January. It seems to work for me.

Covid is going around Yale (my transplant hospital) so I get nervous. I appreciate everyone’s perspective. It boils down to we need to listen to our bodies and to our trusted health care team.
