Narrative Medicine Close Read Practice
We just had an AMAZING support group with special guest Gianna, who is a heart transplant recipient and artist, and she shared with us all about narrative medicine, the healing practice of art and how we can use it as a tool in navigating transplant life.
If you haven't done a narrative medicine practice before, it was so cool to be able to do one together and take themes out of a piece of art, using it as a jumping off point in creating our own artistic expressions. A close read (what we did) involves taking in a piece of art, and then answering questions, thinking, writing or sharing what it invokes in you.
I want to extend part of what we did to this broader community. Take a look at this image and share what comes up for you. Using your senses, what draws your attention first? What does this photo say to you about the idea of a team?
I can't wait to hear your reflections!
