Punch Biopsy (Hair Loss))
Since the summer, I’ve been going to the dermatologist because of ongoing hair loss. At first, we tried injections, but after a while, I noticed most of my hair was shedding, which led me to cut it short. For a time, we thought my vitamin D deficiency was the cause, but my levels have improved and the thinning continues.
At today’s visit, what I thought would just be a follow-up ended up being a punch biopsy — a small sample of my scalp was taken so the doctors can determine the exact cause. I’ll find out the results in two weeks.
Has anyone else experienced this type of biopsy?
at this point, I am just numb to this. . I have learned not to stress over the unknown so it’ll just be a waving game for now. To be continued.

My hair was the one thing I was irrationally upset about. I think it was the icing on the cake scenario. I’d handled so much up until that point, I thought losing my hair would be nothing compared to what I’d lived through but it was the straw that broke the camels back.
I will say I had so much fun wearing wigs and trying new hair colours when I lost my hair.
sending you so much love and hoping you get some answers from your biopsy. I’ve never had one but they don’t sound fun
@AliEm14 Thank you ! It wasn't bad. I only felt the numbing medication and before I knew it, she was done. She also like to talk as if you are hanging out to distract. I don't want to say I get use to things but at some point, you do. I think the emotions are harder to deal with than the actual biopsy
