Yesterday we discussed xeno transplants on this forum and today there was an article describing a real event / a pig kidney (and thymus) that was transplanted into a brain dead person as an experimental procedure at NYU! Dr Montgomery - rockstar surgeon performed the procedure and the kidney worked fully for the period of time the experiment was ongoing. Gene editing was performed ahead of time to remove the dangerous genes the pig has to avoid immediate rejection

Wow this is amazing - I am sure it will take a while for this to get into regular human use but I love to see this type of innovation.
I noticed on Facebook, this morning, every single comment about this wash negative. I bet all of those commenters don’t have kidney problems. As far as I’m concern, if it would help I would start raising pigs!!
