10/19, and I just realized my kidney transplant took place exactly six months ago… it feels so far away that I was on dialysis and feeling tired, nauseous and cold most of the time… my focus has gone from myself to taking care of others and it has gone so far that I don’t really think about that time period any more.

For me, it is a balance to become “normal” again - to dive into work and regular stress - and to stay vigilant and aware of the risks that still remain.

…it is hard mentally to live with a condition that never goes away; it will always require maintenance and there could be setbacks - yet all you dream about is to never have to think about it again…

Congratulations, Karin. 5 years , 4 months and 3 days for me today. You can never stop being vigilant; That is true. I think, with time, it will be more "automatic" for you rather than having to think about it too much..Kinda like riding a bike, only a bit more complex, and more at stake!!
