Kidney
water retention
hi everyone just wanna start off the conversation with i just received my kidney last friday its was a perfect match . has anyone that ever had a kidney transplant when u first got it you didn't pee as much and retained water just curious. my doctor says once kidney level improves that i should be peeing lots more and the water retention should balance out. they didnt wanna give me lasix because fear of low blood pressure just curious if other kidney transplant patients had this .

Hello, yes, when I received my Kidney transplant it took a while before the Kidney level improved. As for peeing, the next day I urinate a lot.

I got my kidney transplants last year in july. I went through the same thing. They gave me the same thing for peeing.
Hello,
After my transplant surgery, i was in the hospital for about 6 days where they were pumping me with saline and other fluids. Needless to say I left the ICU 30 pounds heavier!!! I was struggling to breathe and felt awful. When I went for my first post op check up with my nephrologist, he immediately put me on furosemide (diuretic) to help me get rid of that extra fluid. worked like magic. I wa peeing like crazy. and in about 4 day, those 30 pounds were gone and I could breathe again.
