I’ve had my kidney transplant for 38 years and I’ve never been given any required water intake amount.
I had a liver transplant almost 6 years ago. I was told to drink 8 glasses of water per day. Im not sure what size a glass is. I watch the color of my urine. Keep drinking water until my pee is clear.
I am a liver transplant patient and I am on a fluid restriction due to hypoatremia (low sodium). But I’ve have heard that hydration is important with all transplants. Talk to your doctors, they are the best resource. Good luck!
I'm 8 years post kidney transplant and when I started out in pediatrics they told me to aim for 3/3.5L a day. During summer time I try to do 4 or even more if I am sweating a lot. My creatinine goes up when I don't consistently get at least 3L

Such an important topic!
There is even research showing that extreme dehydration can cause kidney failure in an otherwise normal, young person.
I try to drink as much as possible daily and I know that when I hydrate well I feel and look better! TransplantLyfe 365 helps w tracking for me.
I am going to Colorado tmrw and w the high altitude I really make sure to hydrate to avoid headaches!

I was never told a specific amount of water to drink for my transplant, only that I needed to drink a lot (I'm liver) but I was told an amount for my POTS, which has fluid intake and electrolyte balances as one of the main ways of maintaining my stability.
I try to drink around 3 litres a day. I mix it all in a big pitcher in the morning with my electrolytes, and being able to see it reminds me of how much I have to drink.
I'm a kidney transplant patient. I try to drink 3 liters. I can tell when I don't drink enough water.
I've been using the TransplantLyfe 365 app to keep track of my fluid intake.
How does everyone make sure they are drinking enough water 💧 🤔
I am always battling dehydration. Seems like I can't get enough water. I always have water with me.
Like Dom I was advised to get in 3 to 3.5 L/ daily. I live in CO, very close to 5280' in elevation. I get 3L daily. 1L in the morning before I make myself a latte. 1 before lunch and then 1 the rest of the day. I try and taper off later in the day so I am not up all night. When I travel outside of the Denver area to higher altitude I try and drink a minimum of 4L. On one hand to prevent altitude headaches or sickness and one because usually when I am away from home my diet has more sodium and other foods I don't normally have. I recently spent the weekend in Winter Park, CO for a baseball tournament with my son. The bathrooms were portable toilets and I didn't drink enough water. Later in the day I had a very bad headache and had to over-hydrate and nap.
ya i hate when it get late in the day and i have to drink 3 water bottles i went i was told to aim for 3-3.5 litters a day i went to the doctor today and told them i was drinking 4 and they that could be a little much because you could be over drinking they told me so im gonna aim for 3.5 daily
Good to see everyone sharing, this is helpful. I'm post-liver transplant and was told to stay well-hydrated, but never given a specific amount like 3–3.5L. Seems more common with kidney transplants.
