Hard days

TiaBeanTransplant Patient

We all get them. Those days when something is a little off. We aren't feeling it. We just want to do whatever it is we do to avoid. Since we all have these days, what do you do to pick yourself up? Let's share so we can help each other. I sometimes just need a few minutes alone with good music. Sing. No matter what. Lol

Singing in the car (loudly, usually off key) is a go to. Dance parties. I try to do something where I'm moving my body, and physically changing my state so I can emotionally move my state.

There are also days I fully lean into the pity party, and by that I mean more the party part than the pity party. If I'm gonna be sad I'm gonna throw a party about it, get dressed up, hang out with people I love, and it's also really hard to feel bad surrounded by balloons and sparkles. Cake also helps 😉

@AliEm14 sometimes pity parties are necessary. I am glad we can express that we do have hard days. I know I feel like no one gets that this journey is just that. A journey with smooth and bumpy roads. We make it with help from each other.

@TiaBean love this thread! When I have hard days my emotions tend to go to anger and frustration which in turn makes me more mad that I let something make me mad, haha. I try and tell myself that it is okay to feel this way and that this won't last forever. Even more so, whatever it is, I probably won't even remember it in a month or two. Sometimes when I am really angery I like to go to the driving range and just get my frustration out on the golf balls, haha! Talking it out with a friend can help too! When I am down, taking my dogs on a walk or playing outside with them always cheers me up!

Like @AliEm14, I like to get dressed up and go out if there is an opportunity!

On hard days, I turn to creativity and mindfulness. I use my Cricut to design pillowcases and tumblers. Seeing my ideas come to life gives me a comforting sense of nostalgia and purpose. I also journal and practice mindfulness to stay grounded and give myself space to breathe.

@Dom, I get angry about getting angry, too! It's silly, but that's emotions for ya! @Ldybug97, yes! Being able to escape through art is so helpful. I want to post my paintings, but this won't let me. I gave began journaling. I forget some days, but it is there, and I am using it in times of need. I just love sharing and chatting with all of you. Thank you!

I believe hard days are part of transplant. I know I get tired of feeling sick and tired. I miss my previous healthy, thriving life. I am also very impressed with the mind/body connection. When I do not physically feel well, my emotional state is off.

I try to make a gratitude list for what I have, i try not to wallow in what was. Easier said than done. Hang in there, “this to shall pass”.
