I do. I received mine 8/30/1989. My big sister gave me one of her kidneys.
I do. I received my first kidney from my sister in 1990. It lasted for 33 1/2 years. Got my second kidney (from my brother) just over 2 years ago. I think every day about how fortunate I am!
Hi Ro_A, that’s awesome. Was it hard to get a match with your brother on your second transplant? My center said (without any tests yet) that I may have built up too many antibodies due to the length of my current transplant. This is a subject that I am not very knowledgeable about. Thanks!
My boss gave her kidney to her husband 10 years ago.
My sister donated to me on 11/20/2003. Still going strong with Cr level between 1.1 and 1.4. By my biggest issue has been skin cancer.
Incredible and inspiring! My Son got his first from his Dad that lasted 15 years, the kidney would have lasted I believe but the teenage years took a real toll and he had to have his second transplant which we will be celebrating the 5 yr anniversary on 04/12.
My creatinine is pretty much the same as yours. I'm about 12 years post-surgery and have underwent multiple Mohs surgeries unfortunately!
I remember reading that skin cancers were a possible side effect with the immunosuppression and have not had my Son checked by a dermatologist yet. Which medication makes skin cancer more prevalent or is it all of them generally?

I met someone this week who was 50 years post kidney transplant! It's always so encouraging to see transplant recipients, across all organ types, thriving so long after transplant surgery
Oh wow! That is truly incredible and inspiring! Hopefully with newer medications, the average lifespan of grafts will continue to increase
That is amazing!
It's the immunosuppressants, prednisone, cellcept, tacro. I am not sure about Belatacept. Once you get him into a dermatologists office, they will schedule the check yearly :)
